The Production Cycle at MIA & SOLE: From Concept to Finished Garment

The creation and production of the collection at MIA & SOLE is a meticulously planned process where sustainability, quality, and design are always the focus. The following provides an insight into the entire production cycle, starting from the initial idea to the completion of the final product.

1. Ideation, Concept Development, and Design

At MIA & SOLE, creativity forms the core of the entire design process. Inspired by the brand’s philosophy and drawing from nature, art, and culture, ideas evolve into designs. The concept, which encompasses color schemes and shapes, defines the entire collection. Sustainability remains a constant focus throughout. Based on this concept, sketches, technical drawings, and prints are created.

2. Materials

Choosing the right materials is crucial. After extensive research—through trade fairs, contacts, and travels—fabrics, yarns, buttons, and other components are carefully selected to ensure the desired look and high quality. MIA & SOLE prioritizes natural materials sourced from Europe, primarily from Italy, many of which are sustainably certified. Additionally, deadstock materials are used—these are surplus fabrics and leftover materials from previous productions of other companies. Once the materials are finalized, they are dyed or printed in the colors of the collection.

3. Pattern Making and Prototypes

The patterns for the garments are crafted in Berlin, allowing pattern makers and designers to collaborate closely and implement changes quickly. After creating the patterns, the first sample pieces, known as prototypes, are sewn. These garments are adjusted and perfected on models of various sizes. Often, multiple rounds of adjustments are necessary to ensure the cut, fit, and details meet the highest standards.

4. Production and Manufacturing

Once the prototypes meet expectations and all materials have been delivered, the actual production begins. MIA & SOLE manufactures its garments in carefully selected facilities in Portugal, Poland, and Lithuania, producing only small, limited quantities. The company places great emphasis on fair working conditions and appropriate wages, ensuring the clothing is produced ethically.

5. Refinement and Finishing

After production, the garments are refined at the manufacturing facilities. This includes processes such as ironing, embroidery, and attaching labels. The finishing touches give the garments their final polished look.

6. Quality Control and Inspection

Each garment undergoes strict quality control inspections. MIA & SOLE is committed to delivering high-quality products designed to last and bring long-term satisfaction to customers.
